StirlingX is a newly formed company within GALLOS Technologies, a venture studio focused on security technologies with dual use across commercial and government applications.

StirlingX is uniquely positioned to design and deploy best-in-class, mission-aligned, secure UAV fleets with integrated software solutions for complex environments. Whether clients are looking to deploy an in-house UAV fleet or outsource their entire program as a Drone-as-a- Service (DRaaS) solution, they can capitalise on our exceptional understanding of the technologies, applications, regulations, accreditations, and security standards necessary to enable efficient and effective operations.

We are looking for an experienced and high-integrity business development operator to join the StirlingX team to drive customer projects, revenue progress, channel partnerships, and growth. This role will be the first official business development role; designed to launch the GTM effort and drive market penetration.

The appointed candidate will be responsible for delivering against the launch GTM strategy and revenue/growth objectives, in partnership with StirlingX and GALLOS Technologies leadership. 

There will be significant opportunity for a suitably experienced and ambitious candidate to progress their GTM career as StirlingX navigates the projected growth trajectory.

This position reports directly to the CEO with a dotted line to the GTM Specialist at GALLOS Technologies.

Key responsibilities
  • GTM: Work closely with the StirlingX leadership and technical teams to execute against the launch GTM strategy that lays the foundations for early success.

  • Engage & Influence: Liaison between the GTM (go-to-market) and EPD (engineering/product/design) functions to capture customer requirements and insights into the product development lifecycle and company strategy.

  • Execute: Generating pipeline via various methods, manage customer interactions and sales opportunities, establish tactical plans to meet/exceed quarterly revenue objectives, sales forecasting and reporting to StirlingX and GALLOS leadership.

  • Grow: As market penetration and revenue progress is accomplished, we expect the Head of Business Development to build and lead the first sales team in alignment with StirlingX’s company strategy, revenue objectives, and sales capacity plan.

Desired skills, experience and attributes

The ideal candidate will be incredibly self-motivated and driven to succeed, highly intelligent and competent in problem solving, embraces accountability, is coachable and ambitious, with strong character and integrity, and demonstrable experience taking UAV/DaaS products (or similar) to market for an early-stage technology company.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Qualification & Experience:

    • University degree in a relevant subject (or equivalent industry experience).

    • A significant track record (minimum 5yrs) of successfully delivering sales of new products, or of a start-up’s initial products, to the commercial and government markets.

    • International GTM experience (selling product globally).

    • Experience in building and leading new sales teams, including recruitment and management best practices.

  • Skills & Knowledge:

    • A strong understanding of the specific requirements of a seed-stage start-up and how that will impact on the sales delivery pipeline and market penetration.

    • Understanding of revenue operations and financial management in a sales context.

    • Understanding and experience in UAV/drone operations and data analysis (either from practical experience or sales experience).

  • Character

    • Robust, disciplined, assertive, and possessing the requisite ‘horsepower’ to drive revenue progress for a seed-stage technology company.

    • Highly intelligent with excellent problem solving and communication skills.

    • Credible and reputable with a strong network in StirlingX’s initial target sectors; commercial (agriculture, energy), critical national infrastructure, regional government, and defence.
